*This is a transitional tree tea, not to be confused with yesheng (transitional tree tea or ye-cha is uncultivated dayezhong gushu that was domesticated later on)
"In 2005, I had the fortunate opportunity to try a tea made from the 3200 year-old tree at Mr. Chan Guo Yi’s tea store in HK, and it was very good - viscous, rich and very refined tea soup. Now it feels like I am revisiting that tea, but with the 2007 Diangu. This tea is very refined and has a strong plum fragrance, which is surprising. In addition to the Diangu, we also tried the 2005 3 KG Laobanzhang Chahuang to do a comparison with the Diangu. The LBZ had entered the later maturation phase and had notes of wild camphor, orchid and jasmine. Although the 2007 Diangu and 2005 LBZ are two different teas, we all agreed (people that tasted the two) that the two teas showed many interesting surprises that aging gushu puerh can bring to the drinker."
